Job Summary
Entry-level Meter Services Technician I responsible for installing, testing, and repairing water meters, calibrating and troubleshooting remote metering equipment, turning water services on or off, and addressing customer concerns under supervision. Responsibilities include water meter operations, data entry into the billing system, daily work-order processing, safety compliance, site maintenance, and professional customer service. Requires outdoor work in various weather conditions, potential exposure to hazardous environments, physical activity (walking, standing, climbing, bending), and on-call availability. Must obtain a Class D Water Operator License within six months and, eventually, a Class C license; valid Texas Class C Driver's License required within 30 days of hire. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED (Required).
- Must obtain Class D Water Operator License within 6 months of employment.
- Must obtain Texas Class C Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
- Background check, drug screening and employment verification required.
- Experience: No prior experience required; beneficial if understanding of water systems, electrical systems, or plumbing.
- Preferred: Experience reading or installing water meters; training in water utility operations is a plus.
