Job Summary
Metallurgist at Webco providing technical leadership across manufacturing operations. You'll support production processes including material selection, heat treatment, forming, welding, and finishing; investigate material failures, non-conformances, and customer claims using metallurgical methods; lead root cause analysis and develop corrective actions; review customer specifications and industry standards; conduct metallurgical testing (chemical analysis, mechanical testing, microstructural evaluation, hardness testing); prepare clear technical reports and recommendations; support new product introductions and process validation; collaborate with Engineering to improve processes and product performance; assist Quality with technical dispositions and control plans; provide technical training and guidance to operations, quality, and commercial teams; support supplier qualification and material evaluation; drive data-based decision making and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of ferrous metals, heat treatment, and metal forming processes
- Ability to interpret technical standards and customer specifications
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with metallurgical laboratory equipment and testing methods
- Preferred experience in tube, pipe, or metal forming operations
