Job Summary
Metallurgist Engineer responsible for defining metallurgical requirements for orders, providing technical support to customers and internal teams, and leading continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities include performing metallurgical analyses of skelp/steel coil mechanical and chemical properties, acting as liaison between vendors and customers within the quality department, participating in meetings to resolve/improve quality and service, conducting on-site vendor audits of production/testing practices, leading investigations of production problems related to metallurgical or vendor issues, and assisting in maintaining standard operating procedures. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field, 3+ years in metals/alloys, strong analytical/problem-solving/communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects, independent work capability, experience applying metallurgy/manufacturing standards, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field
- 3+ years’ experience working with metals/alloys in an industrial setting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience applying industry regulations/standards as they relate to metallurgy and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
