Job Summary
Conduct microscopic, macroscopic, and other tests on metal and alloy samples to determine characteristics such as crystal structure, porosity, and homogeneity. Prepare samples through polishing or etching, then interpret findings to create drawings, charts, and written reports with recommendations. Coordinate special tests including end-quench hardenability, bend, tensile, and grain size evaluations. Work in a high-volume lab setting with flexible scheduling. Requires an associates degree, three years of materials laboratory experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or two years of post-high school studies in relevant technical field
- Minimum 3 years in materials laboratory setting or materials-related field
- Ability to read and interpret detailed technical specifications and drawings
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent English communication skills including correct basic grammar, spelling, punctuation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Keyboarding proficiency (40 wpm preferred)
Desired Qualifications
- Aerospace industry experience strongly preferred
