Job Summary
Metal Shop Programmer on 2nd Shift responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs for punch press manufacturing. Duties include interpreting blueprints/engineering drawings, selecting tooling, designing machining strategies, creating setup sheets and work instructions, simulating and testing programs for accuracy and safety, optimizing for efficiency and tool life, troubleshooting programming issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Requires High School Diploma (Associates preferred), 2–5+ years CNC programming experience, CAD proficiency, G-code/M-code knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and strong communication and organizational skills. Office environment with standard 40-hour weeks, potential overtime; physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs. Required Qualifications
- Minimum required education - High School Diploma; Associates degree or higher preferred or equivalent experience
- 2–5+ years of CNC programming experience
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
- Knowledge of machining processes, materials, tooling, and manufacturing best practices
- Ability to interpret basic electro-mechanical diagrams
- Familiarity with CAD modeling
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
- Understanding of CMM reports and quality inspection processes
- Able to lift to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
