Job Summary
Conduct inspections of damaged vehicle bodies, panels, and frames to determine repair requirements and establish corrective actions. Fabricate metal parts using cutting, forming, bending, and welding equipment, performing MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-fuel welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Repair and straighten damaged structures utilizing hydraulic equipment, pulling devices, and measuring systems, then prepare surfaces through grinding, sanding, filling, and priming. Apply protective coatings and assist in refinishing repaired components while identifying and repairing corrosion damage. Operates welding machines, plasma cutters, hydraulic presses, and other fabrication tools to support fleet readiness for military vehicles and specialized mission assets. Maintains accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, and work orders using government management systems. Coordinates with supervisors, vendors, and suppliers to resolve maintenance issues and expedite repairs. Ensures all work complies with technical manuals, safety regulations, and NFPA standards. Performs final inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and structural integrity before equipment release.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of automotive and welding experience
- Working knowledge of military and civilian vehicle and equipment maintenance
- CDL Class B
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance
- Access to a federal military installation
- REAL ID-compliant driver's license or acceptable alternative (U.S. passport or military ID)
- Applicable security clearances
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances
- Installation access
- Background check eligibility
- E-Verify eligibility
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time
- Ability to climb in and out of a vehicle
- Ability to go up and down stairs
- Ability to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance
