Metal Hose Fitter/Fabricator Apprentice

Job Summary

Measure and cut stainless steel flexible metal hose components using tape measures, calipers, and gauges. Assist with fitting, assembling hose, braid, collars, fittings, adapters, flanges, and end connections while preparing parts for welding and final assembly. Perform basic tack welding when trained and authorized, then verify hose lengths, fitting orientation, and component placement before assembly. Conduct visual inspections, basic quality checks, and pressure or leak testing as required. Operate basic fabrication tools and equipment after receiving proper training, maintain tools and work areas, and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements. Meet established production schedules and quality expectations while performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fabrication and welding skills
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work independently after training and as part of a production team
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Good vision, with correction permitted, for measuring, fitting, and detailed fabrication work
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, measuring tools, cutting equipment, and other fabrication equipment after training

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, fabrication shop, manufacturing, construction, automotive, mechanical, or similar hands-on environment
  • Basic experience with cutting, grinding, fitting, or metalworking tools
  • Exposure to welding through a technical school, trade program, vocational class, or previous job
  • Basic tack welding experience
  • Interest in learning TIG welding and developing into a skilled fabricator/welder
  • Familiarity with reading basic drawings, dimensions, or work instructions
