Job Summary
Direct-hire Metal Buyer in Hillsboro, OR responsible for purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous metals, identifying metal grades, and handling material throughout a fast-paced recycling operation. Duties include purchasing materials at favorable prices, operating forklifts and front-end loaders, loading/unloading trailers and containers, entering purchase data into company systems, removing contaminants, assisting customers in the depot, and upholding safety policies with PPE. Experience identifying metal grades, strong multitasking, and excellent customer service are key; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of metal grades and scrap metal processing
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and front-end loader
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic math skills with the ability to calculate weights, quantities, and pricing accurately
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
