Job Summary
Met Lab Engineer 2 role based in Lynchburg, VA onsite. Responsibilities include providing technical support for lab personnel and processes, generating metallographic reports for internal/external customers, interpreting contract technical requirements into procedures, supporting project teams, developing/improving inspection techniques, creating/revising procedures and submittals, submitting quotes for future work scopes, maintaining and trending manufacturing/inspection data, and serving as a subject matter expert in an assigned cognizance area. The role may require qualifying as a Met Lab Examiner and obligations to obtain DOE security clearance. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Engineering or Physics, at least 2 years of experience, basic programming skills, strong communication, ability to guide hourly workforce, and US citizenship. Preferred: experience with Lower Tier NR product and qualification of new processes, products, or equipment. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Engineering or Physics
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Basic programming competency
- Experience understanding, reviewing, and executing contract technical requirements
- Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience instructing and guiding hourly workforce
- Team-oriented collaborative ability
- High attention to detail and multi-tasking capability
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain/maintain DOE security clearance
