Job Summary
The Merrill Advisor Development Program – Financial Advisor specializes in building a book of business with high-net-worth clients through mentorship from Merrill Financial Advisor Teams. Responsibilities include handling inbound inquiries, identifying client needs, delivering customized investment recommendations aligned with goals, collaborating with banking and investment partners, maintaining client profiles and compliance, and supporting portfolio growth through proactive prospecting and referrals. The role emphasizes in-office collaboration, training, and ongoing development to prepare for a career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill/Bank of America.
Required Qualifications
- Currently holds Series 7 & 66 licenses (63 & 65 in lieu of 66)
- Minimum of one year experience working in the financial services industry and/or a sales environment with goals met or exceeded
- Minimum of one year experience in the investments industry, including investment training and knowledge of investment products and services
- Proven ability to engage with and influence others
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Proven ability to assess needs and recommend appropriate solutions/interventions
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team and with key partners
- Active listening and questioning for clarity
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to source clients through prospecting/networking
- Strong follow-through skills
- Computer/technical literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with client data collection and KYC procedures
- Experience using Salesforce (or similar CRM)
- Ability to manage time and drive a productive practice
- SAFE Act registration awareness (role requires registration)
- Compliance with regulatory requirements for residential mortgage originations (as applicable)
