Job Summary
Perform conscious sedation/MAC anesthesia on outpatient and inpatient cases, manage patient airways, and oversee emergence and recovery from anesthesia. Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments, obtain informed consent, and administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids. Release patients from the post-anesthesia care area, provide follow-up evaluations for anesthesia side effects or complications, and respond to emergency situations using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. Collaborate with peers to obtain required information, attend meetings as needed, and ensure compliance with American Association of Nurse Anesthetists rules at local, state, and federal levels. Work Monday through Friday with one 10-hour shift per week and 1:4 weekday and weekend call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
- Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification or its predecessor's
- At least two years of independent experience
- ACLS/BLS/PALS certification
- Must be able to read and write English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, patients, patient's family and other employees of organization
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment
- General computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts (7am to 3pm) with one day per week being a 10-hour shift
- 1:4 weekday and weekend call
