Merchant Opening Lead

Job Summary
Manage the Merchant Opening team to grow Wave's merchant base in The Gambia by opening, training, and branding merchants while monitoring their continued use of the payment product. Identify and solve critical blockers for merchant growth, build the roadmap for the team to achieve cycle objectives, and design processes to open quality merchants at scale with relevant stakeholders. Lead analysis of merchant performance to ensure high service standards and sustainable growth, collaborate with Risk & Fraud to minimize threats, and develop training for staff. Coordinate the rollout of the merchant network in compliance with approved processes and help build playbooks for faster future market launches. Work closely with internal teams to align strategies and share insights to support global strategy development.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in English
- Speak both Mandinka and Wolof fluently
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience specifically managing a network
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing field-based teams (+50 persons)
- Strong geographical knowledge of The Gambia
- Work authorization in The Gambia
- Permanent position availability
