Job Summary
Merchandiser III responsible for conducting grain origination and marketing activities for a grain elevator or soybean processing facility. Communicate with farmers, elevator customers, feed mills, livestock producers, brokers, and other buyers to originate grain, provide market information and service, and grow origination and sales. Coordinate logistics around inbound/outbound product flows, create and communicate load order numbers, and ensure contract compliance. Analyze market conditions, hedging, spreads and margin projections to maintain plant margins, update bid sheets, and support weekly margin projections. Build and maintain relationships with customers, train and educate new merchants, and participate in safety meetings. Demonstrate strong customer service, negotiations, and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and a deep understanding of cash commodity trading, market values, and risk management. Be a leader in Bunge programs and initiatives and contribute to delivering value across the grain origination and marketing function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture Economics or relevant discipline
- 6-10 years of experience in commodity merchandising
- Strong knowledge of cash commodity trading and CBOT
- Strong sales knowledge and negotiation skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to learn, prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of accounting principles, market values, pricing and margin factors
- Strong organizational and execution skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
