Job Summary
Manage the financial success of a department by meeting sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals through developing seasonal merchandise financial plans and allocation strategies. Reconcile plans against top-side goals, analyze historical data to identify risks, and provide analytical inputs for assortment and buy planning processes. Lead the open-to-buy process by presenting financial forecasts and action plans while communicating results to the buying team weekly. Recap actual sales to plan in-season forecasts and inventories, develop monthly style forecasts, and provide pricing recommendations aligned with financial targets. Oversee store clustering, replenishment analysis, and key item plans while building a high-functioning planning team through coaching and constructive feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 4-7 years of retail buying, planning or related analytical experience
- 2-3 years of experience in merchandise or financial planning roles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership and decision-making skills
- Strong listening, written and oral communication skills
- Able to develop and maintain strong working relationship with peers and cross-functional teams
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
- Reacts to business trends in a timely and efficient manner
- Takes calculated risks to achieve results
- Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadline
- Provides clear direction, counseling and coaching to staff
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
