Job Summary
MEP Superintendent for data-center projects in Chicago, IL. Leads field activities for electrical, mechanical, and controls trades and self-performed work; maintains liaison with client, A/E firm, Owner's Rep, and subcontractors to keep project on time and within budget. Oversees equipment procurement and onsite delivery; partners with the Construction Project Manager to manage project budget; mentors field personnel; drives safety, quality, commissioning, start-up, and closeout initiatives. Responsible for ensuring proper installation, startup, and energization of Electrical, Mechanical, and Control Systems, and for coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to meet project objectives and timelines. Maintains secure site operations and a respectful work environment, implements safety/OSHA and QA programs, and leads weekly progress and safety meetings. Requires willingness to travel and be onsite Monday through Friday for the duration of the project.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of data center / critical facilities MEP construction experience
- Experience working for a General Contractor or Trade
- Detailed understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems to include integrated testing, MOPs/ SOPs of installation, functionality and troubleshooting
- Experience in directing and/or supporting the commissioning effort
- Willingness to travel / relo - must be onsite M-F for duration of the project
- Demonstrates solid presentation, verbal, written and communication skills
- Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools (e.g., email, internet, Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Previous administrative experience managing change orders, billing, creating reports
- Military/Veterans experience a huge plus (Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs; Seabees; Army - Power Generation; Air Force – Power Production; Generator Techs; Maritime; Coast Guard; Army National Guard)
