MEP Coordinator

Job Summary
Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems throughout planning and construction phases by reviewing plans, shop drawings, and BIM models for conflicts and constructability. Lead coordination meetings, track submittals and RFIs, monitor subcontractor performance, and conduct field observations to verify installations against approved drawings and codes. Resolve system conflicts, assist with procurement and long-lead equipment, support equipment startup and commissioning, and maintain accurate records for punch lists and closeout documentation. Enforce safety policies and build relationships with owners, design professionals, and vendors to ensure projects meet schedule and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field
- Three or more years of experience coordinating MEP systems in commercial construction
- Equivalent field experience with a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor
- Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building automation, and low-voltage systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination documents
- Understanding of construction sequencing, building codes, inspections, testing, and commissioning procedures
- Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, design professionals, owners, and project leadership
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field preferred
- Three or more years of experience coordinating MEP systems in commercial construction preferred
- Equivalent field experience with a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor may be considered
- Experience with BIM and MEP coordination processes preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Experience with programs such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, or Revit is preferred
