Job Summary
Visually inspect forklifts for leaks, damaged forks, and proper brake operation; check and fill fluid levels using correct refueling procedures. Safely load, unload, and transport material to and from machine centers, vans, and flat-bed trucks. Stack and unstack units in designated storage bays while performing basic maintenance procedures with co-workers or Maintenance personnel. Read and write to comprehend Job Hazard Analysis, machine-specific lockout procedures, and monthly safety training. Perform assigned production and cleaning duties with little supervision, prioritizing tasks and communicating clearly with co-workers. Operate foot controls and use proper body mechanics when pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 50 lbs. Wear required PPE including eye, hearing, and blue Atlas gloves while working on or around moving machinery in an environment with machine noise and dust.
Required Qualifications
- Must have excellent hand eye coordination
- Use vision/hearing continuously
- Must have peripheral vision to see forklifts and co-workers
- Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
- Clean up members must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and make necessary decisions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to carry 10-50 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull 75 lbs
- Must be able to bend/stoop
- Must be able to twist
- Must be able to crouch/squat

- Must be able to work on a slightly elevated wooden platform with rubber mats
- Must be able to work with dust, mist, water, and dry wood odors
- Must be able to work with poor ventilation
- Must be able to work with limited atmospheric conditions
- Must be able to work with hazards as outlined in Job Hazard Analysis
- Must be able to visually inspect the forklift for leaks, damaged forks, excessive wear in steering, lift chains, tires and proper operation of brakes
- Must be able to check fluid levels and fill to the mark
- Must be able to utilize proper refueling procedures to safely fuel forklift
- Must be able to assist co-workers or Maintenance personnel in basic maintenance procedures
- Must be able to rotate to different positions for cross training purposes
- Must be able to read and write during safety training
- Must be able to use our 14-step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason
- Must be able to use proper body mechanics
- Must be able to communicate with co-worker (ex: forklift driver)
