Mental Wellness and Substance Use Outreach Nurse

Job Summary

Provide clinical guidance for and actively participate in the development of mental wellness and substance use programming, including OAT, Managed Alcohol Programs, and home detox support. Deliver outreach health services in community member homes, shelters, and camps, conducting wound care, basic health assessments, and administering medications based on doctors' direction. Educate community members and staff on high-risk factors, recovery, and community practices while advocating for seamless access to external prescription medications. Arrange client care using observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, and counseling skills, reporting unusual circumstances to the immediate Supervisor. This 1-year position requires a Registered Nurse with two years of experience in mental health and substance use, a valid driver's license, and CPR certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Psychiatric Nursing with a Mental Health component
  • Two (2) years' recent, related experience in Mental Health and Substance Use nursing
  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes
  • CPR certification within four (4) months of employment
  • Valid driver's license, a current vehicle insurance certificate, and access to reliable transportation
  • A clear and acceptable Criminal Record Check

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Practice Opioid Use Disorder (CP-OUD) Certification preferred; training may be provided
