Job Summary
Take and record vital signs, assist patients with hygiene and elimination, and ensure patient safety while maintaining a clean unit environment. Accurately measure patient weights, recognize changes in condition, and document all activities as required. Assist with specimen collection, turning, positioning, and patient transportation as directed by licensed nursing personnel. Perform routine clerical tasks, stock supplies, and operate hospital equipment. Listen to and provide emotional support for behavioral patients, ensuring infection control and HIPAA compliance. This part-time, days role supports professional nursing personnel in the care of emotionally disturbed patients.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Demonstrated prior patient care experience, in-service training or formal training
- AHA Basic Life Support
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification upon start date
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
- Certification as a Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the state of CA
