Job Summary
Mental Health Worker (BHU) provides direct patient care in a behavioral health setting, including taking and recording vital signs, assisting with patient hygiene and elimination, maintaining safety and a clean unit, stocking supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, and performing routine clerical tasks. Requires BLS, English literacy, effective communication, HIPAA/compliance awareness, and may include CNA certification. Daily duties emphasize patient care, documentation, collaboration with licensed staff, and ensuring a respectful environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Demonstrated prior patient care experience
- AHA Basic Life Support
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Must demonstrate customer service skills
- Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification upon start date
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
