Mental Health Therapist (Master's Level)

Job Summary

Conduct mental health evaluations to identify symptoms, psychosocial stressors, and environmental factors affecting children with diagnoses, co-occurring illnesses, or trauma. Develop individualized treatment plans and provide evidence-based therapies in individual and group modalities. Complete comprehensive psychosocial evaluations, progress notes, and outcome measures using psychometric tools to track clinical trends. Coordinate care with medical providers and facilitate admissions to inpatient psychiatric facilities or community referrals for patients at risk of harm. Run evidence-based groups as a co-facilitator while performing duties as assigned. May participate in department on-call rotations. Requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Mental Health with six months of therapy experience, plus completion of all licensure requirements within three years.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Mental Health
  • 6 months of therapy and assessment experience
  • Must be in the process of working towards clinical hours of a current Virginia clinical license (Licensed Clinical Social Work or Licensed Professional Counselor)
  • Must complete all licensure requirements within 3 years
  • Must complete all training requirements that is determined by department leadership, including MATCH and any other evidence-based trainings offered
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member
  • Position may require occasional travel to offsite locations
  • Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Role in Children's Pavilion: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, Child Protective Services registry search and National Sex Offender

Desired Qualifications

  • One to two years of related work experience preferred (including internship) and approval letter toward clinical supervision
  • Experience with implementing evidence-based treatments with children and families in both individual and group treatment modalities preferred
