Job Summary

Mental Health Therapist III provides individual and group counseling in a residential treatment setting as part of a multidisciplinary team at Sea Mar Community Health Centers. Responsibilities include conducting assessments and diagnosis, applying treatment plans (including using visual and performance arts as therapeutic modalities), milieu management, documentation, and collaboration with clinicians, technicians, and discharge planners to address emotional, social, and behavioral issues related to mental health and substance use. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and an active Washington State mental health license (or eligible) plus ongoing credentials, TB testing, BLS CPR, and vaccination requirements; proficiency in English with Spanish preferred; ability to travel for outreach and resident care; strong professionalism, boundaries, and cultural competency with a Latino/a population. The role emphasizes advocacy, ethics, client rights, and continuous learning in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, or related field
  • Must hold and maintain an active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License (may be pending for up to 60 days if applied for within 7 days of being offered employment) or mental health Associate License (includes Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, and Clinical Social Worker)
  • Must meet criteria of a Mental Health Professional (MHP)
  • Must complete a pre-hire and annual TB test screening
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR
  • Annual influenza vaccine required; exceptions for medical/religious exemptions; exempt individuals must wear a mask during flu season
  • Must have no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three (3) years prior to employment and while employed
  • Must not have felony convictions within last seven years or substantiated child abuse/violent crime history
  • Ability to communicate effectively; strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of government systems/regulations (Medicare/Medicaid) and community resources
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team; provide care aligned with patients' needs
  • Must read/write English fluently; Spanish preferred but not required
  • Facilities may require travel for outreach/marketing and resident needs
