Job Summary

Mental Health Therapist I provides school-based counseling services to TK-12 students, including individual and group counseling, collaboration with families, and participation in MTSS planning and site-based interventions. The role supports a safe learning environment by partnering with teachers, administrators, and other staff; participates in IEPs, 504s, and MTSS meetings; conducts crisis counseling and risk assessments; may supervise counseling trainees; and contributes to community and school programming and partnerships with outside agencies. The position aligns with Aspire Public Schools’ mission and requires advanced degrees and licensure pathways through the BBS (AMFT/ASW/APCC for Therapist 1, licensure for Therapists 2/3). Candidates should have knowledge of CBT, Play therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and a range of universal and targeted interventions; strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team in a California school setting. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s Degree in counseling/social work or related discipline required
  • Mental Health Therapist 1: Registered Associate with BBS (AMFT, ASW, and/or APCC)
  • Mental Health Therapist 2: Clinical Licensure through the BBS
  • Mental Health Therapist 3: Clinical Licensure through the BBS and certification to provide clinical supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning
  • Experience with students grades TK-12
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Knowledge of intervention and prevention models (e.g., CBT, Play therapy)
  • Ability to adjust to new approaches
  • Ability to handle multiple cases concurrently
  • Bilingual - Spanish (Highly desirable)
