Job Summary
Mental Health Therapist Hospital Based provides mental health services to patients and families in a hospital-based mental health crisis context. Responsibilities include mental health and diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, therapeutic intervention, case management, and discharge planning for pediatric patients. Requires Master's degree and Board of Behavioral Sciences registration (ACSW or AMFT), crisis de-escalation training, BLS, and at least 1 year of relevant experience working with youth in mental health crisis. The role demands strong verbal and written communication, leadership and collaboration skills, and the ability to think critically and manage multiple assignments in a hospital setting. The position is part-time and located at CHOC’s Orange, CA campus.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, and/or counseling
- Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) or Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Minimum 1 year experience with youth in mental health crisis and minimum 1 year experience delivering clinical mental health services
- Crisis evaluation and de-escalation; trauma-informed care; safety planning; leadership; collaboration; articulate communication; proficiency with computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
