Job Summary
Mental Health Therapist provides clinical services for children, youth, and families, including assessments, treatment planning, therapy, coordination of care, and discharge planning within CASA Mental Health. The role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, supervision/preceptorship for students/interns, promotion of patient safety, program planning and quality improvement, and adherence to agency policies and therapeutic standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), occupational therapy or nursing
- Active registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the impact of trauma and attachment on the development of children’s mental illness and on children’s health and well-being
- Training and experience using modalities such as play-based modalities (play therapy, Theraplay), CBT, DBT, EFT, or family therapy
- Training and experience in play therapy is considered an asset
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check
- Physical ability to perform all interventions
