Mental Health Technician/Triage Tech Night Shift

Job Summary
Observe and report changes in patient symptoms and behaviors to the Registered Nurse to adjust care plans. Communicate effectively with patients and families, including facilitating educational groups, while performing safety checks, environmental rounds, and documenting procedures. Support patient care by measuring vital signs, preparing EKGs, transporting patients, and assisting with ambulation needs. Respond empathetically to verbal and nonverbal communication from psychiatric patients. Complete required BLS and STARR de-escalation training within the first 30 days. Provide therapeutic services under Trauma Informed Care principles across the lifespan through various treatment programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
- STARR (verbal and physical de-escalation) to be successfully completed within the first 30 days of hire date
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certificate and/or Associate's degree in human service field
- A minimum of one year of experience in behavioral health field or health care field
- Listed as a Nursing Aide I with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services
- Certification through American Association of Psychiatric Technician NCPT Certification Level I-II
