Job Summary
Mental Health Technician role providing bedside and unit support on an inpatient/acute care unit. Responsibilities include obtaining clinical measurements (vital signs, height/weight, intake/output), collecting specimens and ECG strips, assisting patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and safety; documenting in the electronic medical record; scheduling diagnostic testing and patient transport; coordinating with the treatment team, including RN, management and families; delivering delegated direct care and conducting therapeutic activities with groups or individual patients; participating in quality improvement and safety initiatives; maintaining a calm healing environment and ensuring safety through rounds and observation; and entering GenSight information and scheduling pickups as part of the daily workflow. Requires an associate or higher degree in psychology, social work or related field and mental health experience; CPR certification (may be obtained after hire).
Required Qualifications
- Associates or higher degree in psychology, social work or other related field required with 6 months of mental health experience preferred
- Two years of experience in a mental health setting.
- Nursing student in a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited RN program with successful completion of at least one hospital rotation
- CPR Certification – may be obtained after hired
