Mental Health Technician - (MHT) - Unit #3 - Nights - 7 on / 7 off

Obtains initial patient information and documents vital signs, height, and weight on assessment forms. Assists patients with unit tours, searches belongings per policy, and collects lab specimens for transport. Actively structures the therapeutic milieu by encouraging patient participation in groups and observing physical and mental status changes. Responds to condition changes by reporting to the Charge Nurse and documenting interventions on flow sheets and progress notes. Provides hygiene and nutritional support, accompanies patients to meals, and records intake data. Performs nursing activities including collecting specimens, taking vital signs, and weighing patients. Facilitates patient groups, monitors sharps use, and demonstrates appropriate seclusion and restraint application. Handles crisis calls, assists with initial assessments as Intake backup, and covers the nursing station duties. Transports patients and lab specimens to buildings for procedures. Assists with unit supply inventory and patient discharge documentation.
