Job Summary
Observe and record patient information pertinent to treatment plans while welcoming new patients through admission protocols and assisting with discharge. Maintain direct patient observation and lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups. Adjust therapeutic approaches based on acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations. Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs and helping patients perform activities of daily living. Frequently serve as the first responder to codes, behavioral outbursts, contraband introductions, and medical issues. Requires current BLS certification, crisis management certification, and Tier 2 or 3 shift availability including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS certification
- Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards
- PRN Requirements: Tier 2: provide 6 shift availability per month
- PRN Requirements: Tier 3- Provide 8 shift availability per month
- Both tiers are to include -1 full weekend per month
- Both tiers are to include 2 major
- Both tiers are to include 1 minor holiday
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state where the hospital resides
- A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit
