Job Summary
Mental Health Technician provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN/LVN, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients. Responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs, observing patient behavior and mental status, notifying the RN of changes, assisting with restraints and seclusion under RN direction using CPI techniques, facilitating 15-minute observation rounds, orienting new staff, supporting treatment team meetings, assisting with ADLs and meals, and participating in educational groups. The role requires safe equipment operation, accurate documentation in the EHR, adherence to safety policies, and collaboration with nursing and medical staff to support patient care and CQI initiatives. Education: High school diploma or GED with CPR and de-escalation certification; preferred CNA certification and some college coursework; experience in a healthcare setting is required.
Required Qualifications
