Job Summary
Mental Health Technician role supporting Milieu Management and safety, assisting nurses with patient care tasks, conducting group sessions, documenting observations and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include monitoring for hazards, reporting safety issues, ensuring room readiness, assisting with admission processes, recording I&O and vital signs when applicable, providing courteous communication, adhering to privacy laws, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient care. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field (waived with substantial inpatient behavioral health experience) and relevant certifications (BLS, CPI recommended). Work location is at Children's Hospital New Orleans in the United States with variable shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Allied Health or related field; Bachelor's degree requirement may be waived for individuals with > 10 years' experience working in an inpatient behavioral/mental health facility
- BLS
- CPI (recommended during orientation period)
