Job Summary
Guide patients through a trauma-informed lens to help them express themselves, problem-solve, and build resilience. Provide crucial feedback and positive reinforcement while acting as a critical resource in emergency situations. Perform essential basic nursing tasks including vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting with daily living activities. Facilitate supportive groups, educational activities, and psych-educational sessions to foster community and teach socialization skills. Utilize strong communication skills to connect with a diverse population and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. Apply Crisis Prevention and Intervention techniques to de-escalate situations and promote positive interpersonal skills. Maintain a secure environment and provide essential support within a therapeutic milieu at CHI St. Alexius Health.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- at least one year of experience as a Psych Tech
- equivalent experience to a Psych Tech
- Currently listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Department of Health
- willingness to obtain Nurse Assistant Registry listing within 90 days of employment
- ability to obtain CPI Certification within six months of employment
- ability to obtain Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting certification within six months of employment
- ability to obtain First Aid certification within six months of employment (if applicable for PRTF)
- BLS or BLS instructor certification upon hire
- American Red Cross certification acceptance
- American Safety and Health Institute certification acceptance
- American Heart Association certification acceptance
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service field
- Graduation from a Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program
- One year of experience in the Behavioral Health field
- current nursing student status
- student studying a Human Services field
