Job Summary
Mental Health Tech participates in the psychiatric patient care under the supervision of an RN, helping to deliver, monitor, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, transportation of patients, assisting with vital signs, phlebotomy and point-of-care testing, aiding with activities of daily living, document maintenance, and collaboration with families and other care team members. Duties cover implementation of patient treatment per physician orders and hospital policies, support in identifying and managing crises, and aiding in admissions, discharges, and unit operations, with adherence to HIPAA and safety standards. Required education is a High School diploma or GED; CPR certification; and crisis intervention training prior to or during employment, plus a valid driver’s license. Preferred credentials include EMT training or nursing-related coursework. The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care within a team-based psychiatric unit.
