Job Summary
Provide assistance for severely mentally ill patients in a psychiatric unit while helping with therapeutic group activities, food services, and charting patient observations. Establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with severe mental illness or serious addiction disorders and maintain a clean, safe, and caring environment. Work a 40-hour week that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, standing for at least 8 hours per shift and lifting up to 50 pounds. Pass Therapeutic Options training and CPR, possess a valid driver's license, and be at least 21 years old. Join a multi-disciplinary team using the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model to enhance client recovery through coordinated care and expanded services.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to lift and/or maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for a minimum of 8 hours at a time during each shift
- Must be able to pass Therapeutic Options training and CPR
- Ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with severe mental illness and/or serious addiction disorders
- Ability to respect client rights
- Must be able to pass a drug test (implied by Drug Free Workplace Policy for safety-sensitive position)
Desired Qualifications
- 1 years' experience in mental health or health care field
- Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, college in a behavioral health-related field
- Prior experience as a mental health tech in a psychiatric facility
- Knowledgeable about working with patients with co-occurring disorders
- Experience working with electronic medical records
