Job Summary
Safety Specialist at High Desert Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for clients, visitors, and staff. The role includes screening incoming clients/visitors for contraband, inventorying client property, monitoring surveillance equipment, controlling center access, conducting physical security checks, and responding to fires or emergencies. The position supports a 24/7 outpatient program and BHUCC operations, with emphasis on vigilant milieu management to facilitate quality client care and safe facility operations. Requires experience in safety/security within mental health settings, a California driver’s license, CPR/BLS, and BSIS guard registration (or enrollment to register within 90 days). Beneficial qualifications include prior AMFT/ACSW/APCC supervision exposure and a willingness to engage in on-the-job training and CEU opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent OR AA degree in related mental health field
- 2 years’ experience in a relevant field OR 1 year if AA degree
- Experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or adults in inpatient/outpatient/hospital settings where safety and security were primary focus
- Valid California Driver's License and clear DMV printout preferred
- Valid CPR/BLS certification
- Valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS OR commitment to register within 90 days of employment
