Job Summary
Mental Health Specialist II provides direct support to individuals with intensive behavioral and mental health needs using person-centered approaches focused on safety, skill-building, and positive engagement. Responsibilities include following behavior support plans, treatment plans, crisis-prevention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and manual restraints as trained; maintaining a clean, safe, structured living environment; assisting with daily living skills, transportation, and community engagement; accurately documenting services, behavioral observations, and program activities in electronic systems (T-logs, Therap, health tracking); monitoring behavioral changes and communicating with supervisors during crisis or safety situations; supporting family and personal contacts, assisting with appointments and medication administration tasks where allowed; participating in team meetings, providing feedback on individuals’ needs, and assisting in training new staff while modeling professional behavior. Requires HS diploma or GED and at least 3 years of relevant experience or a degree in a mental-health–related field; valid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks; strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Location: North Branch, MN, US; in-person work schedule with potential weekend/holiday shifts. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years minimum of experience working with individuals with chronic and severe mental illness or a degree in a mental-health–related field
- Must be at least 18 years of age; some programs require employees to be 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems
