Job Summary
Directly support individuals with intensive behavioral and mental health needs using person-centered approaches focused on safety, skill-building, and engagement. Work under behavior and treatment plans, apply crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques, and utilize manual restraints as trained. Maintain a clean, safe living environment, assist with daily living tasks, transportation, and community involvement. Accurately document services and observations in electronic systems, monitor behavioral changes, and communicate with supervisors during crises. Collaborate with families, case managers, and healthcare partners; participate in team meetings and train new staff while modeling professional behavior. Provide support and follow all medical and nutrition plans as indicated; ensure home safety and compliance with protocols and individual support plans. Possess strong problem-solving, time-management, and independent prioritization skills and demonstrate clear written and verbal communication.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years minimum of experience working with individuals with chronic and severe mental illness or a degree in a mental-health–related field
- Must be at least 18 years of age; some programs require employees to be 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems
