Job Summary
Provide basic supportive and trauma-informed care to patients and families under the supervision of a registered nurse or clinical supervisor. Establish therapeutic relationships through effective communication and education while maintaining safety via de-escalation, limit setting, and physical interventions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop treatment plans and serve as a resource for diagnoses, behavior plans, and crisis management. Maintain certifications in Basic Life Support, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and First Aid. Requires one year of recent hospital mental health experience and current enrollment in a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current enrollment in and completion of half a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program, or equivalent experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
- First Aid certification
- One year of hospital experience in a mental health role within the past three years, or equivalent education
- Must be able to perform therapeutic crisis intervention moves (TCI)
- Able to wear and function in helmets and other safety equipment
- Rapid physical response when needed
- Applies the principles of body mechanics in lifting or moving patients and/or equipment
- Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for evening shifts
- Must be able to lift 0-10 lbs
- Must be able to lift 11-20 lbs
- Must be able to lift 21-40 lbs
- Must be able to lift 41-60 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull 0-25 lbs
