Mental Health Specialist-8

Mental Health Specialist-8 provides paraprofessional mental health care under direct supervision in an inpatient/community-based setting. Core duties include facilitating or co-facilitating therapeutic group processes, applying effective communication with interdisciplinary team and clients, assisting clients to structure their lives therapeutically, using the master treatment plan to implement age-appropriate interventions, recognizing cues for potential aggression and applying de-escalation techniques, documenting responses in medical records, supporting family members, performing basic medical tasks (vital signs, specimen collection, glucose monitoring), assisting with activities of daily living, and coordinating client transport and recreation activities. Requires BLS certification within 30 days of hire and either two years of college or two years of inpatient acute psychiatric care experience; preferred BS in Psychology/Social Work/Nursing and valid driver’s license.
