Job Summary
The Gallery Social Practitioner provides social practice to members in Gallery and Studio programs, creating rehabilitative, transitional environments that support members’ recovery. Responsibilities include connecting members to clubhouse services, coordinating volunteer scheduling and agendas, organizing information for member artists, enabling engagement through events and forums, supporting the Gallery Program Director and staff, delivering social practice interventions, and building therapeutic relationships with members. The role requires comfort in a mental health setting, proficiency with Outlook, Access, Excel, Slack, ARTSY.com and related tools, teamwork with diverse staff and volunteers, adaptability to varied supervision levels, and an interest in the creative arts. Education or equivalent experience in social work, psychology, or related fields is preferred, with some evenings required and regular presence in New York City locations. Physical requirements align with standard ADA/FMLA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree required or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in a clubhouse or similar setting preferred.
- Gallery and/or art experience preferred.
- Ability to work some evenings.
