Job Summary
Provide access-focused mental health services to UW‐Madison students, including risk assessment, service evaluation, and collaborative decision-making; facilitate referrals to community resources, conduct care management across UHS services, assist with understanding insurance benefits and accessing resources, and offer individual, couples, and/or group therapy as needed. Maintain accurate documentation, collaborate on multidisciplinary teams, participate in program development for access/triage and care management, and support outreach and student adjustment initiatives. Requires state licensure as LPC/LMAFT or equivalent and a Master’s degree in counseling or related field; compensation starts at $62,000 with benefits and discretionary state/federal loan forgiveness options. The role emphasizes direct clinical service (50-60%) and administrative duties (40-50%), with opportunities across psychiatry, behavioral health, and counseling services, and a commitment to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines. Location: Madison, WI; full-time position in UW–Madison’s University Health Services.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling or related mental health field
- LPC or LMAFT - State Licensure required; independently licensed in Wisconsin or completing licensure requirements within specified timelines
- 1+ years in a mental health setting preferred
- Must complete licensure requirements for independent practice within 15 months of hire
- Ability to provide brief assessment, care management, risk assessment/safety planning, and advocacy for clients
- Experience with insurance resources and in-network/out-of-network understanding
- Strong documentation and EHR skills
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Eligibility to work in the United States
