Job Summary

Mental Health Provider, Access Specialist delivers integrated mental health services to UW–Madison students through UW-Madison’s University Health Services. Direct service (50-60%) focuses on access appointments by phone and in person, risk assessment, service evaluation, collaborative decision making, and may include brief interventions; supports care management and referrals to community resources, insurance navigation, and advocacy. Administrative duties (40-50%) include accurate documentation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, program development for access/triage and care management, adherence to policies (HIPAA/FERPA), meetings, and professional development. The role supports provision of individual, couples, and group therapies, crisis intervention as needed, and coordination with campus partners to meet student needs. Licensing requirements are confirmed during the interview process, with emphasis on independent licensure in Wisconsin (LCSW) or eligible AP SW candidates with hours toward licensure. The position emphasizes dedication to student health and well-being, equity, and collaboration within a supportive campus environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or other related mental health field
  • LCSW - State Licensure required. Must be independently licensed in the State of Wisconsin. Or if APSW, must complete hours requirements for licensure within 1 year of hire. Must complete all licensure requirements for independent practice within 15 months of hire, with verification of submission of all licensure materials to DSPS. If you are an APSW, you must have completed 1000 qualifying hours.
  • 1 or more years in a mental health setting
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA compliance (implied by role in healthcare education setting)
  • Ability to provide individual and group counseling and crisis intervention as needed
  • Experience coordinating referrals and coordinating care with community/state agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
  • Administrative skills to document in Electronic Health Records
