Job Summary
The Mental Health Professional at Northstar Behavioral Health is responsible for providing client-centered care in a co-occurring licensure environment, conducting mental health screenings and assessments, and maintaining a minimum of 25 direct client contact hours per week. Responsibilities include adhering to state statutes and ethical guidelines, managing client records, completing treatment plans, and coordinating care with other providers. Required qualifications include being a licensed mental health professional in Minnesota, a master's degree, and competency in using DSM-V. Additional skills such as motivational interviewing, evidence-based treatment modalities, and the ability to work independently are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Minnesota (LP, LICSW, LMFT, and/or LPCC)
- Minimum requirement of a master's degree
- Demonstrate competent use of DSM-V and evidence-based approaches
- CPR Certification or attain within 30 days of hire
- Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems
- Must pass drug screen
- Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check
- Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Desired Qualifications

- Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, DBT, EMDR, Brain Spotting
- Strong motivational interviewing skills
- Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills
- Work independently and think critically
