Job Summary
Mental Health Nurse (RN) at the Texas Civil Commitment Center in Littlefield, TX. Performs nursing duties in a secure treatment setting, partnering with an interdisciplinary care team to provide skilled nursing care, support treatment planning, and promote mental health. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments with psychosocial evaluation; develop and revise individual nursing care plans; implement psychiatrist’s orders and medications; provide crisis intervention and management for acute disturbances; coordinate scheduling for mental health providers; administer medications per policies; educate patients on medications and potential side effects; document observations in electronic medical records; maintain confidentiality per HIPAA; ensure safety and infection-control standards; participate in staff meetings and on-call duties; complete required pre-service and annual training; and maintain security clearance while delivering compassionate, clinically strong care. Requirements include a nursing degree, current Texas (or compact state) RN license, CPR certification, and adherence to Texas nursing scope of practice; valid driver’s license may be required.
