Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, interview patients regarding health problems and medication history, and take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight. Provide wound care by cleaning and bandaging injured areas, administer medications including injections while monitoring reactions, and maintain medical records in the electronic health record, TechCare. Observe patient health and mental health status, provide emergency first aid, and deliver patient education and discharge or release planning. Work alongside correctional officers in a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Full-time and part-time positions available with training for new graduates.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
Desired Qualifications
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
