Job Summary

Manage and oversee mental health programs for the Middlesex County Jail, ensuring quality care that protects patient rights. Develop and implement services, coordinate training activities, and perform patient evaluations while documenting clinical records. Facilitate treatments including admissions, discharges, housing changes, and crisis stabilization. Manage staff through recruiting, hiring, and development; oversee program budgets and ensure compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards. Respond to mental health crises and maintain accurate progress notes. Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V criteria and psychotropic medications while working with psychiatrists, social workers, and correctional staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Psychologist (PhD in Psychology required)
  • active, unrestricted professional licensure in the state of New Jersey
  • active, unrestricted license in state (LMSW-C, LPC, LMSW)
  • active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
  • minimum of 2 years' experience in management with correctional healthcare experience preferred
  • knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • discharge planning
  • principles of social work
  • basic principles of individual and group behavior
  • working knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • ability to remain calm under pressure while assess patients' situations, underlying causes of their behavior and be able to develop interventions and treatment plans
  • Effective communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct
  • comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • pass the facility's criminal background check
  • drug screening
