Mental Health Counselor II

Job Summary
Conduct intakes and comprehensive assessments to develop individualized service and treatment plans for children and families. Deliver therapeutic counseling services across in-home, in-office, virtual, and school-based settings while assisting clients with referrals to community resources. Reassess client needs every 90 days to modify service plans and maintain current records for program accountability and billing. Maintain monthly statistics and advocate for entitlements or needed services for referred families. This grant-funded role requires flexible hours from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, frequent travel, and reliable personal transportation.
Required Qualifications
- Master's in social work or related human services field
- Fully licensed as an LMSW
- Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate
- Passed the licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate
- Employment is contingent upon full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire
- Valid Texas driver license
- Current auto insurance
- Reliable personal transportation
- Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis
- Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation
- Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good paperwork and organizational skills
- Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely
- Knowledge of social work practices
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources
- Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force
- Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs
- Must have reliable personal transportation
- Valid Texas driver license
- Current auto insurance
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) years' experience preferred
- Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare preferred
- Bilingual Preferred
