Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care on inpatient and/or outpatient mental health units, including treatment planning, documentation, milieu safety assessments, and group activity leadership. Perform clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, administering EKGs, and phlebotomy while maintaining patient safety through regular checks and de-escalation strategies. Provide personal care to optimize patient independence and communicate timely observations to the Registered Nurse. Serve as a unit secretary, managing care charts and logs for admissions, discharges, and transfers. Maintain a safe therapeutic environment by following departmental policies, attending staff meetings, and complying with all health and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support or Heart Savor certification
- One year of relevant patient support experience
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner
- Effective interpersonal skills to provide respectful, culturally and age appropriate communication with patients, staff, visitors and others
- Effective problem-solving abilities for routine situations
