Job Summary
Guide care and programming in the memory care neighborhood while ensuring the dignity of all residents and maintaining a therapeutic environment. Lead the care team in adapting the environment to individual resident needs, providing structure and consistency, and designing daily activities that support life roles and function. Conduct resident assessments to develop accurate service plans, maintain care plans through ongoing team feedback, and lead special cognitive, creative, and reminiscence activities. Evaluate programs using quality assurance tools and customer feedback, while keeping current with dementia care trends to improve outcomes. Manage Care Partners and Medication Aides, maintain budget control, and support census building initiatives by providing tours to prospective residents and families. Ensure adequate daily coverage for meal service and maintain open communication with residents, families, physicians, and internal staff. This role requires 24-hour on-call availability for emergency response and involves moderate physical activity including lifting residents.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in a related field, such as Nursing, Social Services, or Therapeutic Recreation
- Previous leadership experience in a specialized dementia program
- Knowledge of and experience with program facilitation and activity program development
- Knowledge of and experience with caring for persons with dementia
- Knowledgeable of the disease process, changes associated with a dementing illness and how they affect an individual's ability to function
- Demonstrates skills necessary to work effectively with an individual with dementia
- Ability to read and interpret company policy and procedure manuals, operations manuals and governmental rules and regulations
- Ability to perform budget analysis, review and control
- Able to identify problems, collect data and use this information to solve identified problems
- Certification, licensed, or registrations and certificates as defined by individual state regulations
- Moderate physical activity required to handle objects up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and handle bulky objects
- Must be able to assist in lifting residents in excess of 100 pounds
- This position requires being on call 24 hours a day and responding to emergencies in a timely manner
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in a related field, such as Nursing, Social Services, or Therapeutic Recreation preferred
- Previous leadership experience in a specialized dementia program preferred
