Job Summary
Lead assigned Life Guidance programs by developing service plans and offering diversified recreational activities with sufficient supervision for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia. Proactively involve staff in planning daily programs, including activities of daily living, while engaging and motivating residents to ensure participation. Plan individual birthday celebrations, parties, and monthly events, and decorate the community according to seasonal and holiday themes. Greets new residents to include them in activities and introduce them to others with similar interests. Develop programs for residents confined to their rooms and assist in enlisting volunteer services to aid the activities program. Maintain records of all activities, resident participation levels, and acceptance as required by state law. Support census building initiatives and work various schedules and shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to two years prior experience with an adult population developing and implementing activities and/or training
- an equivalent combination of education and experience
- a working knowledge of the methods of recreational therapy or activity programming and their application to activity and leisure needs of residents with Alzheimer's/Dementia
- Required certification(s) based on current state regulations
- Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed
